Hello there,

We are looking to setup a signage using your app but I seem to be having a problem with accessing the folder from “File and Folder > Path to playlist folder”, the window opens then suddenly bounces me back to video kiosk with no error message.

Its as if its kicking me out. I have tried to give as much permissions as I could but still cannot access “Path to playlist folder”.

I’m not sure if this is specific to my phone (I’m only using this as a test bench before trying it out on our signage) or if this will also effect our signage.

Also, does video kiosk have transitions in place to go from one slide to another or is it just a straight cut.

Thanks so much for your time. Great app and Jesus bless you!

It sounds like you are using Android 12+ and have not granted the Manage All Files permission.

This is required for Video Kiosk to use its own file browser since as of Android 12 without that permission it will fail.

Normally, when you launch Video Kiosk, it will detect that this permission has not been granted and it will open the System Setting for you on that screen. In developer talk it is opening the Intent for Settings.ACTION_MANAGE_APP_ALL_FILES_ACCESS_PERMISSION.

Perhaps on your device that permission screen is somewhere else and so you are not seeing it.

You can go into the system settings and grant the permission.

There is a longer explanation that you can find here.

If your production devices are using Android 12 or later you will need to grant this permission as well. Its supposed to be presented to you automatically but as with all things Android you may have found the device that is the exception to the rule.

Video Kiosk supports a cross dissolve transition for images and video. You can read more about it starting on page 55 of the Video Kiosk Users Manual. You can set it using a global value and you can also use file name meta tags (if you want different times for different images) which are discussed starting on page 60.
