I just bought and installed ShredIt mobile on my iPhone. The initial screen is confusing as it talks about creating a big file, but not why or how to do that. I only want to wipe free space—NOT visible data. How can I be sure before starting the wiping process.

Shredit Mobile ONLY wipes free space. So just go to the shred tab, press shred, and that, as they say is that. It is just that easy.
