BurningThumb Studios updates Virtual CD RW – Mac: version 2.0.3 released

Richmond, Canada — BurningThumb Studios has released a new version of Virtual CD RW, its Mac virtual CD drive App. Version 2.0.3 of Virtual CD RW adds the following features:

  • Added support for MacOS Sierra

Virtual CD RW Mac is an easy to use virtual CD drive for Mac that uses a disk image, although it appears to Mac OS as if a CD has been inserted, making it possible to read from and burn to a virtual CD drive, instead of a real one. The primary advantage of such technology is speed. A virtual CD drive is at least 10 times faster than an internal CD drive and many more times faster than an externally mounted CD drive.

This technology has three primary uses. First, it’s often used with music converter software which burns backups to a CD instead of using a physical CD because it’s faster than burning to actual CDs. Secondly, it’s used to convert an .iso disk image to a bin/cue disk image. Thirdly, it’s used to make virtual copies of music CDs (or other CDs) for faster access, much faster than reading the actual CD, and to protect the original CDs from getting scratched.

Pricing and Availability

Virtual CD RW is available for immediate download for $24.95 US. Virtual CD RW runs on Mac. For more information, visit https://www.burningthumb.com/apps/virtual-cd-mac/
