The TVs I have at my studio are all vertically oriented. Does Kiosk Video allow for a portrait layout for a single panel or 4 panel mode (as referenced in the manual)? Also, if I produce the videos in landscape, can I rotate it in the display mode for portrait viewing? Thanks, Vinh
Q: Does Kiosk Video allow for a portrait layout for a single panel or 4 panel mode (as referenced in the manual)?
A: Full Screen mode – Supports both Portrait orientation and Landscape orientation
Digital Signage 4-panel mode – Video Kiosk supports both Portrait orientation and Landscape orientation, but whether portrait orientation is supported by the device is up to the manufacturer. Customers are using this on high-end commercial devices, but this hasn’t been tested on low-cost consumer Android devices.
Q: Also, if I produce the videos in landscape, can I rotate it in the display mode for portrait viewing?
A: On a phone or tablet, Video Kiosk gives you 3 options:
- Display landscape video in portrait and scale the video to fit the screen
- Display landscape video in portrait, maintain the aspect ratio and fill the screen with background
- Lock the video to always display in landscape, no matter how the device is turned.
On an Android TV, this is device dependent. Because TVs are designed to be displayed only in landscape mode, the device may not support turning the display, since this is determined by the manufacturer. Customers are using this on high-end commercial devices, but this hasn’t been tested on low-cost consumer Android devices.
Q: Can the widgets be display in portrait viewing?
A: In widget mode the video is always scaled to fit the screen.
On a Phone or Tablet – yes
On an Android TV – device dependent for the same reason as above
